This winter, four years after launching Yayaki and operating our boutique hotel, and almost five years after moving to our dear island of Spetses, we have launched an NGO called NISSIMOU ( = “my island” in Greek).
As many of our repeating guests and friends know already, this is a very special project, dear to our heart, as it is entirely inspired by our daughter Athina’s story and communication challenges. And this year, thanks to our family’s help and support, NISSIMOU is born.
NISSIMOU’s mission is to support children of Spetses. This is the very first innovative centre on the island designed to provide a different range of therapies including: speech therapy, occupational therapy, and psychology as well as inclusive workshops. We work with a team of passionate and certified therapists from Greece in order to provide the best support we can to children.
During the season, we plan on opening up the program of activities and workshops to all children 2-12 years old, staying at Yayaki with their families !
